Thank you, Lord for the rain. The heat was terrible these past days and the earth was in dire need of quenching. Anyway, so much for an introduction. Classes had officially started and I can already see school-related posts from some of my friends who are still in school. They’re looking forward to a busy sem. As for me, I already started a busy lifestyle–a working lifestyle that is, which explains the minimal blog post.:P And I know that it will even get worse. Whew.
Speaking of school, I miss UP. Yes, I actually miss being a student, along with the subjects, projects and the professors. I miss those days when I can just relax. Relax, meaning to be at ease with the thought that there can be plenty of room for mistakes and it will be just fine. Not so much pressure since you know that you’ll probably just end up with a low grade and can still pull it off the next exam. In the real world, I figured that you can never commit so many mistakes, or actually you can, but for some instances, there can never be a next time to make up for the wrong action. It will be a whole different ending.
I kinda thought that my current setup is similar with the main character’s in one of the books I read. That book, which is currently one of my favorites, is Spirit Bound and I’m talking about the feisty damphir, Rose Hathaway. And no, I’m not about to say that I’m as courageous, bold, smart and beautiful as she is. What I find interesting is the part of the story where she just graduated from the Vampire Academy, specifically the part where she took her final exam. I won’t be sharing the story, I’ll try to describe the scene without giving away too much; because, I’ll be instead suggesting that you read it.
Anyway, during her exam–which I like to think is similar to my thesis defense, only because it will determine whether Rose will graduate from the academy or not, which was also the case for me–she had a lot of things running in her mind. She knew it would be one of the most important events in her life. She knew she had to pass it to be an official guardian, and it is her only way out to the real world so she can start a new life with freedom but with greater responsibility. As much as she loved the thought of her being free from the school rules and her professors’ hands, she also knew that the real world would be tougher. Unlike the exams she had, in the real world, there won’t be drill attacks anymore; she won’t just be pretending to be a guardian, pretending to defend another person, who is pretending to be a Royal, from her teachers pretending to be Strigois. In school, when a teacher/guardian attacks a student-guardian during a drill and that student failed, the result can either be a failing or low grade. In the real world, when a real guardian failed during an attack by a real Strigoi, the consequences are deadly–literally.
Can you imagine the pressure she was feeling? I can, because the real world is where I am right now; of course, minus the killings and attacks from mean vampires. I know you get the picture. Rose survived her exam by the way, she even got the highest score. She’s now a full-time guardian fighting off Strigois here and there, and she always gets her self out of sticky situations, which means she always survives. As for the real character in my story, let’s just see how her course will unfold. Let’s hope it’s a good one.
A glimpse of my world… or rather, my messy work place..;p

[...] fresh, but I promise not to take too long. Here it goes. Remember what I said on my recent post, Little Damphir, about committing mistakes at work and how the possibility of making up for it is very small? [...]
